You can buy Heisman winner a beer

Winners of the Heisman Trophy seem to be rarefied figures, sort of like Hall of Famers. It’s hard to imagine them doing basic chores such as shopping or mowing lawns, much less stopping in a tavern for a few beers.
But that’s the plan of University of Wisconsin alumnus Ron Dayne, who captured the Heisman a decade ago when he was running over defenders in the Big Ten and compiled a Division 1-record 6,397 rushing yards. He added two Rose Bowl MVPs for good measure.
According to the Wausau Daily Herald, on Saturday the former standout plans to visit three Wisconsin bars, each for one hour, as the Badgers battle Indiana University. He’ll sign autographs and generally celebrate the 10th anniversary of winning the trophy.
Like many Heisman winners, Dayne’s pro career didn’t quite match up. Drafted by the New York Giants, he gained little more than half the yards in eight seasons than he had during his college career.
Still, Dayne is a legend in Wisconsin. And it’s not like a Heisman Trophy winner enters bars around Wausau every day. Said Bob Tesmer, the owner of Arrow Sports Bar and Grill: ”It’s a big deal for Wausau. This stuff doesn’t happen up here.”
